- Elimination of Federal Direct Subsidized Loan
The Budget Control Act of 2011, signed into law on August 2, 2011, eliminated the in-school interest subsidy on federal loans for graduate and professional students effective July 1, 2012.
Federal Direct Subsidized loans will no longer be available after July 1, 2012; all Federal Direct Loans available for graduate and professional students will be unsubsidized. The annual loan limit remains at $20,500 for graduate and professional students and $40,500 for veterinary medicine students. Previously borrowed Federal Direct Subsidized Loans will not be affected by this change. From the ENSU Executive Director
Welcome to the Online Certificate program in Environmental Sustainability at the University of Illinois.
This program addresses the growing demand for courses that concentrate on the key issues associated with sustainability and the environment. You will learn about the interconnectedness of environmental, economic, and social systems of the world; the implications of our actions on the environment; factors that determine the sustainability of human institutions, organizations, cultures, and technologies; finding solutions through innovative approaches; and expanding future options by practicing environmental stewardship. Following the classical definition of sustainability, the aim is to develop citizens, businesses, and societies that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to do the same.
I and our staff at the University of Illinois are here to help you as you progress towards completing the Certificate.
The University of Illinois also plans to deliver a Bachelor of Science Degree Completion Program in Environmental Sustainability that will start by the summer of 2011. Courses taken in the Certificate program count towards the major.
