OU Wiki Annotations (Formerly Commenting)

Instructors may wish to enable their students to comment upon each other's wikis, however the default for this is ability is set not to allow students to do so. Also, in Moodle 2.X, OU Wiki comments are now called annotations. To enable students to annotate, there are several actions instructors must take when creating wiki assignments. The actions are within the creation of the OU Wiki and within the Permissions for the OU Wiki.

Procedure

  1. Turn editing on and select the OU Wiki as the Activity type.
  2. When making the OU Wiki, be sure to set the Annotation system setting in the Wiki settings section to Yes.
  3. Once finished making the settings for the wiki, click Save and display.
  4. Access the Settings for the OU wiki and click the Permissions link.

  5. In the Advanced role override drop-down list, select the Student role.
  6. Next, under the Activity: OU wiki Allowed to annotate capability, change the permission from Inherit (Not set) to Allow, as shown in the image below.

  7. Save the changes to the student role permissions.
